The Deferred Entry of Judgment (DEJ) Program allows you to enroll and complete an education workshop for a dismissal of your case. If the District Attorney determines you are eligible and you choose to enroll in the DEJ Program, you will be referred to Pacific Education Services - external link who will administer the program.

How does it work?
You will be required to enter a plea of guilty or no contest and an alternative sentence will be deferred. If you successfully complete the program, including payment of all fees and restitution (if applicable), and do not commit any new crimes while enrolled in the program, the charges filed against you will eventually be dismissed.
What kind of classes do I have to take?
Depending on your charges, the following workshops are offered at different levels; 1 day, 2 days, or 4 days:
- Anger management / positive anger control
- Theft and property violation
- Lifeskills
- Drug and Alcohol Education
- HIV Education (2 day program)
- Truancy Intervention (1 day program)
How much does it cost?
The cost of a one day class is $200, a two day class is $380, and a four day class is $560. This does not include any restitution (if applicable) or program fees assessed by Pacific Education Services.
How long do I have to complete the program?
You will be given three months to complete the program.
Are there other conditions for this program?
Yes. You may be ordered to stay away, have no contact, and/or abide by some other condition.
What happens if I don' complete the program?
If you have not completed the program by the date indicated on your initial referral/enrollment form, you must return to court.The District Attorney may also ask the court to impose the sentence you agreed to when you pled. Consult an attorney to discuss your options.
