Public Notice

Resumption of In Person Services Effective June 1, 2022

All in-person services in the Family Law Division will resume effective June 1, 2022.

These include:

  • Family law hearings, excluding Department of Child Support Service matters. Parties and attorneys in Family Law matters may elect to appear via zoom with notice to the court and other parties.
  • Same day mediation program in the domestic violence court
  • Referrals from court to make mediation appointments in Family Court Services
  • Mediation appointments
  • Front counter and workshops in the Self Help Center
  • Public service counters and records management functions
  • Probate investigations in adoption and termination of parental rights cases
  • Court interpreters
  • Court reporters

Public Notice - Amended Family Law Remote and In Person Court Proceedings - Effective Monday, January 3, 2022, Revised 01.05.22

Process to Request or Oppose Remote Appearance

Family Law Records Requests - Effective May 3, 2021

The Family Relations Courthouse remains closed to the public, but is accepting limited appointments effective immediately for public viewing of case files for persons with critical needs to view or obtain copies of documents. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. To make an appointment, please call (916) 875-3400, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Due to COVID-related restrictions, only the person who has the appointment will be allowed into the building.

Family Law Trial Date Availability - Effective Monday, May 16, 2022

Please be advised that trial dates are currently being set during the week of July 29, 2022, and beyond. Be sure to inquire during your court proceedings, since availability will vary as trials are set. For a Memo-to-Set, an additional 15 days or more should be added.
