The Court will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day

The Master Calendar Unit is located on the sixth floor in Room 609. Sacramento Superior Court uses a master calendar system to assign cases to judicial officers. This system does not assign a judicial officer at the time the complaint is filed. Instead, all cases proceed through the system and are assigned by terminal case digits to different departments for specific types of matters. On the date the trial is scheduled to begin, the parties appear for assignment to a trial department. The matter is then assigned to whichever judicial officer is available for a new trial. If there are no departments available, the matter is reset.

The Master Calendar Unit is responsible for scheduling trials; preparing daily and weekly calendars indicating assignments of judges and commissioners; assigning jury deliberation rooms and courtroom equipment; scheduling replacement judicial officers for vacations or illness; coordinating with the presiding judge and the master calendar judges in the criminal and civil sections; and providing clerical support for the small claims trial de novo process.
