Along the hallways of the first floor is artwork commemorating Adoption Day. Each November, the courthouse hosts a special party to celebrate the finalization of adoptions. Adoption Day is a collaboration between the Sacramento Superior Court, Dept. of Human Services Adoption Program - external link, Lilliput Children's Services - external link, Soroptimist International - external link, and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department - external link. The adopted children make ceramic tile handprints which are then fired and displayed on the walls of the first floor.
